Carrying and moving an injured cat

How to carry an injured cat:
- 1
Always assess the situation so that you are not injured. An injured cat can be bitten or scratched from fear and pain.
- 2
Try to be as calm as possible around the cat, stress can worsen the cat's symptoms.
- 3
Try to keep your cat still and keep them straight, especially if you suspect a broken bone, back or neck injury.
- 4
If your cat has difficulty breathing, if possible, let them adopt a position where breathing is facilitated. The cat often chooses to sit or to take the chest position.
- 5
Gently but firmly, wrap the cat in a blanket or towel, so that only the head sticks out. This makes the cat calmer and reduces the risk of it moving and aggravating the injury.
- 6
Place the cat firmly in a carrier if possible, with a proper blanket at the bottom. Wrap the cat if necessary for stability during the journey, the cat should not slide around in the cage.
